Mrs. Patricia Meza- 1st Grade

My name is Patricia Meza and I am the first grade teacher at Saint Odilo School. One of my main goals for this upcoming school year is to prepare your child for a smooth transition into 2nd grade. I will help guide your child in developing academic and social skills, while encouraging independence.
Your first grader will take on more responsibilities and be able to apply their knowledge to the world around them. The Superkids Reading Program will continue to be implemented in the daily routine. Students will become better readers, spellers and writers. We will be practicing our letter sounds, blending new words and discover spelling patterns in engaging stories. Students will also be writing about their own thoughts and ideas. Your child will develop a range of math skills including addition and subtraction concepts and strategies, graphing, place value, measurement, time and 2-D/3-D shapes. Social Studies and Science themes include plants, animals, animal homes, communities, geography, economics, history, citizenship and much more! Students will have various opportunities to partake in hands-on activities throughout the year. As a class, we will grow in our faith as we will attend mass weekly, share religious stories and practice prayers such as The Lord’s Prayer, Hail Mary, and the Sign of the Cross.
I am looking forward to working with your child. I hope to instill a love for learning as we grow and make many memories together. It is so rewarding to teach these bright little minds at Saint Odilo School. It is a blessing to be a part of such a welcoming and loving community!
