Learning and practicing the Catholic faith is a cornerstone of life at St. Odilo School. In addition to religion classes for all students, students from grades 2-8 begin each day with Mass in our beautiful church, not a gymnasium or cafeteria. Grades K-1 join us for Mass once a week. Religious themes and artwork are part of our everyday curriculum. The existence of God, and His hand in creation and in our lives is an important part of what we teach.
Second graders spend their year preparing for the sacraments of Confession and Communion, and sixth graders prepare for Confirmation. At various times of the year the school week closes with either the Rosary or Stations of the Cross followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Students are taught the rich tradition of Catholic music, including Gregorian Chant, traditional hymns, and sacred songs. Boys are given the opportunity to become altar servers. There are two children's choirs and a children's handbell choir that provide music for Sunday Mass.
Special events include an all school Christmas program based on traditional, non secular Christmas carols and a dramatization of Christ's nativity, Living Stations of the Cross, All Souls Day, Candelmas, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and a May crowning of the Virgin Mary.
