The State of Illinois requires all students entering either Kindergarten or 1st Grade, students entering 6th Grade, and any student entering an Illinois school for the first time, to have a physical examination at the beginning of the school year. Illinois law also requires a dental examination for all students entering Kindergarten, Grade 2, and Grade 6. Illinois law requires a vision exam for all students entering Kindergarten. Health records are required of all new students on the first day of school. In addition to the physical examination, every child must be immunized against mumps, rubella, measles, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, varicella and poliomyelitis.
